Torokaha (verb) 'to be strong, strengthened'
Torokaha works with philanthropy, non-profits & sustainable business - to support and strengthen social and/ or environmental impact. The business was founded in January 2016 by Annette Culpan in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Annette has a background in strategic philanthropy, business and the for-purpose sector. Recent projects including chronicling a Foundation history, facilitating co-design of an evaluation approach, developing philanthropy strategy and researching and analysing needs on the ground (based on customer insights). She managed the Vodafone Foundation for nine years, spear-heading their high engagement approach; sits on the Board of Directors for Philanthropy New Zealand; the Grief Centre Auckland; and co- leads an advisory group for the Vodafone Foundation. Annette was invited to be on the design working group for the 2017 Social Enterprise World Forum, following development of a think-piece exploring Social Enterprise in Aotearoa (presented at the University of Auckland Business School). She is passionate about impact - via philanthropy, sustainable business, individuals investing for impact and collaborative approaches. She believes in the ability of ordinary people to achieve extraordinary outcomes through relationship, generosity, action and strengths-based practice.
